USB flash drives are integrated with a USB interface. They are small, lightweight, and make it easy to transfer data from one location to another. The device transfers information at extremely fast rate. With the growth in popularity of the USB device the drive has become the diskette of old. Now individuals can carry large files and easily load them onto any workstation quickly.
The flash drive was first invented in 1998 by Dov Moran and is incredibly easy to use. Probably the biggest problem it poses for individuals is that it is so small that it is often misplaced or lost. New devices created are solving some problems that were first encountered by users, they are durable enough to be driven over, taken through the washer, and have encryption software preloaded to remove data from being stolen. Devices have taken many shapes and sizes and have turned into a fashion accessory. Sizes run from 16 megabytes up to over 2 gigabytes and are still growing. The flash drive holds personal data, software, applications, pictures, audio, and operating systems. How do you use USB flash drives?
I commonly use a Flash Drive to store files that I am not allowed to place onto my mother's computer due to issues with space. A Flash Drive comes in very useful for sharing files with friends also.
